Passive Treatment

Passive Treatment | Cervical Stretching

Hot packs, cold packs with or without compression, ultrasound, eStim, and mechanical spinal traction. Help in the reduction of pain, soft tissue swelling, inflammation, soft tissue restriction, promote strength after injury or surgery, decrease unwanted muscular activity, increase connective tissue extensibility, or remodel scar tissue.

Active Treatment

Therapeutic Exercise

Active Treatment | Pulling

Exercise intended to reduce pain and improve strength, range of motion (ROM), endurance, balance, coordination, posture, motor function, motor development, and self-confidence in a situation when any of a variety of problems constrains the ability of a patient to perform a functional activity. Exercise increases muscular flexibility and strength, while also promoting healing by increasing blood flow to the injured site. Healthy muscles provide protection for bones and joints.

Functional Exercise and Training

Activities intended to integrate patients back to the home or work environment as quickly and efficiently as possible. Activities may include activities of daily living training, body mechanics, posture education, therapeutic exercise, or the use of therapeutic assistive, adaptive, orthotic, protective, or supportive equipment.

Spinal Rehabilitation

DRX 9000 | Spinal Decompression

Intervention includes exercises to strengthening the core muscle groups, including the abdominal wall and lumbar musculature. Exercise and manual therapy have been shown to benefit many patients with a wide variety of spinal diagnoses. In addition, patient education to remain active and use appropriate body mechanics is beneficial. Our physical therapists are trained to identify which of these treatment strategies will be most effective for an individual patient, which further improves the effectiveness of care.

DRX 9000 Spinal Decompression

DRX 9000 | Spinal Decompression

Spinal Decompression is a Non-Invasive and Non-Surgical treatment of disc pain in the back and neck.

Spinal decompression is the use of a machine to relieve pressure on one or many “pinched nerves” of the spinal column. It is achieved by a non-surgical method used to treat back pain, neck pain, herniated discs, bulging discs & spinal degenerative disc and/or joint disease.

Spinal Decompression provides relief to severe back and neck pain sufferers by gently separating the bones of the spine and reducing the pressure within the discs. The DRX9000 combined with our core strengthening and stabilization rehabilitation program is the key to long-term success.

Treatment & Rehabilitation:

Treatment and rehabilitation of neuro-musculoskeletal injuries is at the center of sports physical therapy practice. In a team approach with physicians, the physical therapist designs and implements programs for the management of these disorders in clients of all ages and physical abilities, including those with physical disabilities as well as elite athletes.

Performance Enhancement:

Physical therapists assist athletically active individuals to improve their performance in a variety of ways. The foundation of performance enhancement is provided by a thorough evaluation of the neuro-musculoskeletal and the cardiovascular-pulmonary systems. The results of this evaluation are compiled to outline strengths and weaknesses in an individual’s physical profile. This profile can then be matched to the individual’s specific athletic activity. Areas of deficiency in flexibility, muscular strength and endurance, and in the aerobic/anaerobic systems can be outlined in a specific training regime. Follow-up evaluations can determine further training program changes.

Prevention:

The practice of sports physical therapy includes those interventions that assist the athletically active individual in preventing injuries and then, if an injury occurs, continuing their pursuits with minimal disruptions. Areas of this practice include pre-participation screening, equipment recommendations, and cardiovascular fitness programs designed to assist in a safe and unremarkable return to activity.

Manual Therapy

Passive Treatment | Cervical Stretching

This involves passive interventions in which our Physical Therapists use our hands to administer skilled movements designed to reduce pain, increase range of motion, reduce soft tissue swelling, inflammation or restriction, induce relaxation, and improve contractile and non-contractile extensibility. Techniques include soft tissue massage with myofascial release, connective tissue massage, extremity and spinal joint mobilization and manipulation, muscle energy techniques (METs), manual passive ROM, sub-occipital headache release, scar tissue massage, and manual spinal traction.
